Configuration in STEP 7 Basic
4.7.1
Overview of the configuration
Requirement
The complete configuration of the CP in STEP 7 Basic is only possible after configuring in
STEP 7 V5 (see above).
Overview of configuration in STEP 7 Basic
Follow the steps below when configuring:
1. Create a STEP 7 project.
2. Insert the S7-1200 CPU for the SIMATIC station.
3. Create the PLC tags required for the data points in the CPUs, see also point 7.
4. Insert the CP 1243-8 in the stations.
5. If you use Ethernet-based communication, create an Ethernet network and connect the
CP to the Ethernet network.
The configuration of WAN networks is not possible in STEP 7 Basic and is not necessary.
The configuration of telecontrol connections between the CP and master station is not
possible in STEP 7 Basic and is not necessary.
6. For the CP, import the configuration data using the text file from the STEP 7 V5 project.
For information on the import, refer to the section Importing configuration data (Page 58).
7. Configure the CP:
– Configure the further parameters of the CP.
– Configure the data points of the CP.
– The configuration of the security functions is necessary when using telecontrol
8. Download the project data to the station.
When you load the station, the project data of the station including the configuration data
of the CP is stored on the CPU.
