RS232 Connector
The mini star coupler is connected to a PC/RTU or a laptop computer using an X1 socket with a DIGSI cable, for
example 7X5100-4. The RS232 interface is activated only when the mini star coupler works in the mode with
RS232 = On, and when pin 7 and pin 8 on the DIGSI cable have been shorted.
If the RS232 interface is active and the device is configured in compatibility mode in a star topology, signal
reception at the FO1 channel is automatically inactive. The serial RS232 interface now distributes the data to
the fiber-optic channels or receives data from the fiber-optic channels. This means that you can prevent a data
collision due to simultaneous local and remote access.
There are other adjustment options for RS232 interface functionality in extended mode (star topology with
master redundancy).
