Removing and replacing Tier 1 CRUs

Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at
your request, you will be charged for the installation.
The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.

Removing the top cover, bezel, and front cover

Attention:
the server. Operating the server for more than 2 minutes with the top cover
removed might damage server components.
To remove the top cover, bezel, and front cover, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
2. If you are installing or replacing a non-hot-swap component, turn off the server
3. (Tower model only) Unlock the front cover and grasp the top corners of the front
4. (Tower model only) Lift the front cover to release the two tabs at the bottom
