RAID 10
As stated above, RAID 1 can only be configured on exactly two disk drives. RAID 10 is a way
to expand mirroring onto four or more disk drives. It is actually a combination of mirroring and
RAID 0 (striping), as shown in Figure 4-5 on page 48. RAID 10 provides excellent data
availability. If a disk drive fails, all the data can still be accessed. Performance is also
excellent, as the data is striped in a way similar to RAID 0. The only drawback is that the
usable capacity is only 50% of total storage capacity.
