The larger portion of the screen is used as a
view all the previously sent or received messages. Each message is
preceded by the name of its sender (either you or your chat-peer). Use the
joystick to scroll up and view older messages.
Press the Close key to leave the Chat screen and go back to the Main
Screen. You may return to this Chat screen later (See 4.3).
Normally, a chat-peer would be one of your contacts; however, chat sessions with users which are not
your contacts are also possible, for example, if you appear in your chat-peer's contacts list but they do
not appear in yours. In such a case, the status Not In List will be used with this chat-peer (See 3.1).
A small bubble appearing in the status icon of a user indicates that an active Chat screen currently
exists with this user. For example, the Online status icon will look like this:
4.2.2 Sending Messages
To send a message to your chat-peer, type it in the input-line of the Chat
screen (below the messages area), then press the joystick, or press the
Options key and select Send.
The message will be both sent to your peer and added to the bottom of the
messages area.
Multi-line messages are not allowed, nor empty messages.
