Repairs
Repairs and/or upgrades are not to be performed on this product. These services are to be performed only by an a uthorized
service center (see Technical Assistance on page Customer Support ).
Maintenance
Your d evice p rovides r eliable a nd e fficient o peration w ith a m inimum o f c are. Although s pecific m aintenance i s n ot r equired, t he
following p eriodic c hecks e nsure d ependable o peration:
Cleaning the Device
Reading performance may degrade if the scanner's window is not clean. If the window is visibly dirty, or if the scanner isn't
operating w ell, c lean t he w indow w ith a s oft cloth o r l ens t issue d ampened w ith w ater ( or a m ild d etergent- w ater s olution). If
a detergent solution is used, rinse with a clean lens tissue dampened with water only.
The scanner housing may also be cleaned the same w ay.
Inspecting Cords and C onnectors
Inspect the interface cable and connector for wear or other signs of damage. A badly worn cable or damaged c onnector
may i nterfere w ith s canner o peration. Contact y our d istributor f or i nformation a bout c able r eplacement. Cable r eplacement
instructions are on page Customer Support.
Replacing Cable in the S canner
The standard interface cable is attached to the scanner with a 10-pin modular connector. When properly seated, the connector
is held in the scanner by a flexible retention tab. The interface cable is designed to be field r eplaceable.
• Order replacement cables from Honeywell or from an authorized distributor.
• When ordering a replacement cable, specify the cable part number of the original interface cable.
Troubleshooting the Scanner
The scanner automatically performs self-tests whenever you turn it on. If your scanner is not functioning properly, r eview
the following Troubleshooting Guide to try to isolate the p roblem.
Is the power on? Is the aimer o n?
If the aimer isn't illuminated, check t hat:
• The cable is connected p roperly.
• The host system power is on (if external power isn't used).
Do not submerge the scanner in water. The s canner' s
housing is not watertight.
Do not use abrasive wipes or tissues on the s canner's
window – a brasive w ipes m ay s cratch t he w indow. Never
use solvents (e.g., alcohol or acetone) on the housing or
window – solvents may damage the finish or the window.
