    Part 2: Installation and user’s guide Product description The IBM PCI Ultra160 SCSI Adapter is designed to attach SCSI devices to a computer that has an available peripheral component interconnect (PCI) expansion slot. You can connect up to 15 SCSI devices to the adapter (disk drives, CD drives, scanners, and other devices) in a daisy-chain fashion.

    ID assignments. To determine existing SCSI ID assignments, use one of the following. – For most IBM computers, press the F1 key during start up after the memory check completes. – Use the SCSI utility programs which came with your SCSI devices.
  • Page 15 v ID 7 is the highest priority ID on the SCSI bus. Make sure ID 7 is assigned to the SCSI adapter. Do not use the SCSISelect utility program to change the ID assignment of the SCSI adapter. The priority of the other IDs in descending priority order are 6 to 0 and 15 to 8.

  • Page 19 With the Automatic termination setting, the adapter detects if SCSI cables are connected to any of the two SCSI connectors. The adapter then sets termination as needed. If you need to manually set the SCSI adapter termination, see “Appendix B. Using SCSISelect” on page B-1 for more information. Step 7.

Installing device drivers and utility software The Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, Linux, Novell NetWare, IBM OS/2, SCO Unix, and UnixWare operating systems might already contain device drivers for your SCSI adapter.   • Page 31 – Boot Only: Only the removable-media drive designated as the startup device is treated as a hard disk. – All Disks: All removable-media drives supported by the BIOS are treated as hard disks. – Disabled: No removable-media drives are treated as hard disk drives. In this situation, device drivers are needed because the drives are not controlled by the BIOS.

The term ″Machine″ means an IBM machine, its features, conversions, upgrades, elements, or accessories, or any combination of them.
