Step 3 - Testing the scanner in Notepad
To test the scanner please perform the following actions:
Windows XP:
1. Click the start button in the lower-left corner of the screen and select Run from the meny that appears
2. A dialog box will appear, type notepad and click the OK button
3. Click in the notepad window to make sure it is the active window.
4. Scan a barcode off of a membership card, bottle of water, energy bar, etc.
5. Like the picture above, you should see the number that is listed under the barcode of the item you
scanned show up in notepad.
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
1. Click the start button in the lower-left corner of the screen
2. In the search field please type in notepad and select it from the list that appears
3. Click in the notepad window to make sure it is the active window.
4. Scan a barcode off of a membership card, bottle of water, energy bar, etc.
5. Like the picture above, you should see the number that is listed under the barcode of the item you
scanned show up in notepad.
