    SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Have the installer show you the location of the range gas shut-off valve and how to shut it off if necessary. ■ Have your range installed and properly grounded by a qualified installer, in accordance with the Installation Instructions.
  • Page 5 Never install it directly over interior kitchen carpeting. ■ Do not leave children alone or unattended where a range is hot or in operation. They could be seriously burned. ■ Do not allow anyone to climb, stand or hang on the oven door, drawer or cooktop.

    To avoid spillovers, make sure cookware is large enough to contain the food properly. This will both save cleaning time and prevent hazardous accumulations of food, since heavy spattering or spillovers left on range can ignite. Use pans with handles that can be easily grasped and remain cool.

    Using the griddle. Your non-stick coated griddle provides an extra-large cooking surface for meats, pancakes or other food usually prepared in a frying pan or skillet. How to Insert the Griddle CAUTION: remove the griddle only when all grates and griddle are cool and all surface units are turned OFF.

If you are baking with several pans, leave space between them. Also, be sure the pans do not touch each other or the walls of the oven.

    Head/Cap Assembly The burner heads and the oval burner head/cap assembly are removable. Simply lift them off the range for cleaning. For proper ignition, make sure the small hole in the section that fits over the electrode is kept open. A sewing needle or wire twist-tie works well to unclog it.

For maximum stability, these grates should only be used in their proper position; they cannot be interchanged left to right or front to back.     Provide adequate clearances between the range and adjacent combustible surfaces. These dimensions must be met for safe use of your range. The location of the electrical outlet and pipe opening (see Gas Pipe and Electric Outlet Locations) may be adjusted to meet specific requirements.

    LOCATION GUIDELINES Do not locate the range where it may be subject to strong drafts. Any openings in the floor or wall behind the range should be sealed. Make sure the openings around the base of the range that supply fresh air for combustion and ventilation are not obstructed by carpeting or woodwork.

    Provide Adequate Gas Supply Your range is designed to operate at a pressure of 5 ″ of water column on natural gas or, if designed for LP gas (propane or butane), 10 ″ of water column.

Connect the Range to the Gas Supply Shut off the main gas supply valve before disconnecting the old range and leave it off until the new hookup has been completed. Don’t forget to relight the pilot on other gas appliances when you turn the gas back on.

    Use an open-end or adjustable wrench to adjust the leveling legs until the range is level. WARNING: Never completely remove the leveling leg as the range will not be secured to the anti-tip device properly.
  • Page 52 Installation of the range. Anti-Tip Device Installation To reduce the risk of tipping the range, the range must be secured by a properly installed anti-tip bracket. See installation instructions shipped with the bracket for complete details before attempting to install.
