Do not use the unspecified interface cables. Uses only the cable authorized by NEC and locate the device and connector before connection. Use of an unauthorized cable or displaced connection may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.

INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the N8151-101 Built-In LTO. N8151-101 Built-In LTO is LTO2 tape device. To maximize the Built-In LTO functions, please read the instruction manual carefully before use and fully understand how to handle the device.
ORGANIZATION OF THE MANUAL The instruction manual function as a guide that enables you to set up and use the N8151-101 Built-In LTO. You can refer to the manual whenever you encounter a question or problem during setup and daily operation.
To this end, we strongly recommend that you dispose of all backed up data through your backup software before transferring or selling the unit. For details about how to perform this operation, refer to your backup software documentation. NEC does not accept responsibility for information leaks to third parties.

Built-In LTO This section explained how to setup this device and the method of usage. Data Cartridge The Built-In LTO can save data by using data cartridges listed in the table below. PART NAME AND FUNCTION The Built-In LTO has the following parts and functions. Front ① Cartridge load compartment (Cartridge Door) The cartridge load compartment is a slot used to mount or dismount the cartridge. ② Ventilator The ventilator cools and ventilates inside of the device.
SETUP The procedure to install the Built-In LTO to the systems like Express5800 series is explained. Before installing the Built-In LTO drive into the system, Latching rails are needed to be installed onto the drive as shown in below. Upper side mounting screw hole is used for tightening the Latching rail to the drive. Attach the latching rails Attach the latching rails as shown in the figure below.

INSTALLING THE TAPE DEVICE DRIVER Install the tape device driver only when you are using the Windows backup (system tool) of Windows Server 2003. To install the tape device driver in the server, use the attached CD-ROM. Prepare the CD-ROM in advance. Described of installation procedures for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) operating system are described below.

Data Cartridge This section explained how to handle the data cartridge which is used for N8151-101 Built –In LTO drive. For usable cartridge, please see the section “Data cartridge” section in page 15. DATA CARTRIDGE PART NAME LABEL It is recommended that you should affix a label to each cartridge to associate the data cartridge with backup data for easier identification as shown below.
WRITE-PROTECT PLUG Writing of data in the tape is enabled or disabled by setting the write-protect notch. To protect the data from being erased, set the write-protect notch as shown in the figure below. Although position of the write-protect is all the same for tape cartridges, the notch is varied occasionally.

PRECAUTIONS ON HANDLING Operational Precautions Before Use If a data cartridge is damaged, deformed or bent, do not use it. If the data cartridge is exposed to an environment other than the operating or storage environment, expose it to the operating environment for a longer time than the period when it is exposed to other environment (for 8 hours at maximum) before use.
USAGE INHIBITION STANDARD If a data cartridge that you are using is in the case below, you must replace it. When the data cartridge is given a strong shock, for example, when falling, and damaged. When the recording surface is contaminated with liquid, such as soft drink, coffee and tea, detergent, metal chips or cigarette ash.
Although the tape service life, which is determined by this deterioration, various greatly depending on the tape storage environment (humidity, temperature), the tape is generally serviceable for about five years since you purchase, even it is not used. STORING IMPORTANT DATA When storing important data or programs, it is strongly recommended that you should prepare and store the master tape and copy (backup) tape just in case.
DATA CARTRIDGE STORAGE Always store data cartridges in a clean location under the specified storage conditions. Enabling the write-protect feature is recommended when storing data cartridges. When storing data cartridges for an extended period of time, data should be read periodically in order to ensure that restoration from backup data is possible at all times.
