Activating Your Phone If you purchased your phone at a Sprint Store, should be activated and ready to use. If you received your phone in the mail and it is for a new Sprint account or a new line of service, activate automatically.
Setting UpYour Voicemail Your phone automatically transfers all unanswered calls to your voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off. Turning Your Phone On and Off Turning Your Phone On Press and hold Once your phone is on and finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode – the phone’s idle state. At this point, you are ready to begin making and receiving calls.

BatteryCapacity Your phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. It allows you to recharge your battery before it is fully drained. The battery provides up to 4.8 hours of continuous digital talk time. For a quick check of your battery level, glance at the battery charge indicator located in the upper-right corner of your phone’s display screen.
Charging the Battery Keeping track of your battery’s charge is important. If your battery level becomes too low, your phone automatically turns off, and you will lose any information you were just working on. Always use a Sprint-approved or Kyocera-approved desktop charger, travel charger, or vehicle power adapter to charge your battery.

Making Calls Make sure your phone is on. Enter a phone number from standby mode. If you make a mistake while dialing, press numbers. Press . (To make a call when you are roaming and Call Guard is enabled, see “Call Guard” on page Press when you are finished.

Answering a Roam Call With Call Guard Enabled Call Guard is an option that helps you manage your roaming charges when making or receiving calls while outside the Nationwide Sprint Network. Please see “Roaming” on page 110 for more information about roaming.

Saving a Phone Number Your phone can store up to 600 Contacts entries and each entry can contain up to seven phone numbers. (See “Contacts” on page 56.) From standby mode, enter a phone number and press OPTIONS (right softkey) Select New Entry Existing Entry...
Note You can have multiple pauses in a phone number and combine two-second and hard pauses. To dial or save phone numbers with pauses: Enter all or part of a number. Press (right softkey) OPTIONS > Hard Pause 2-Sec. Pause. Enter additional numbers.
Speed Dialing You can store up to 98 numbers in your phone’s speed dial memory to make contacting friends and family easier. You must assign a speed dial number to the existing phone number beforehand. See “Assigning Speed Dial Numbers” on page 61. To use speed dial for locations 2-9: From standby mode, press and hold the appropriate key for approximately two seconds.
To place a call using Abbreviated Dialing: Enter the last three to six digits of a Contacts entry’s phone number to use the Contacts Match feature. – or – Enter the last four or five digits of the number to use the Prepend feature.
Selecting a Text Input Mode Your phone provides convenient ways to enter words or symbols whenever you are prompted to enter text. Changing the Screen Saver Choose the screen saver that appears when your phone is in standby mode. Power Save Mode This feature helps conserve your battery power by automatically adjusting settings for certain phone features. Press > Settings > Display > Power Save Mode A message appears. Text Messaging Settings Setting a CallbackNumber With this feature, you can specify the callback number your recipients see when you send text messages. Airplane Mode Airplane Mode allows you to use many of your phone’s features, such as games and voice memos, when you are in an airplane or in any other area where making or receiving calls or data connection is prohibited. When you set your phone to Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receive any calls or access online information.

Using the Hearing Aid Device Compatibility Function Your phone has been tested for hearing aid device compatibility and rated. To use this function effectively, set the hearing aid setting to on. Setting Power On to Alert The alert will not sound when your phone is turned off, turns your phone on in Airplane Power On to Alert Mode to alert you even if your phone is turned off. This feature applies only to schedule or call alarm events, or the alarm clock.
