Introduction to the Administrator Guide About this Guide This guide explains how to use the Dell DR4000 system to perform data storage operations and manage storage and replication containers. This guide introduces and describes the DR4000 system graphical user interface (GUI) that you can use to manage your backup and replication operations.

Data replication improves fault-tolerance, improving the reliability of maintaining saved data, and permitting accessibility to the same stored data. The DR4000 system uses an active form of replication that lets you configure a primary-backup scheme in which the system processes data storage requests from a specified source to a specified destination or replica.

NOTE: If your DR4000 system is equipped with a 10-GbE NIC, you must use CAT6 copper cables. • IP addresses are assigned to the DR4000 system. The system ships with a default IP address and subnet mask address, which should only be used for an initial system configuration.
