Chapter 5. Replace removable media devices in iSeries 825
To replace a removable media device, perform these tasks:
__ 1. Perform prerequisite tasks as described in Chapter 2, "Before you begin," on page 3.
__ 2. Remove the front cover.
Your system can either be powered off (nonconcurrent) or powered on (concurrent) when you replace a
removable media device. Select the preferred procedure from the following:
v "Replace removable media devices with 825 powered on"
v "Replace removable media devices with 825 powered off" on page 15
Replace removable media devices with 825 powered on
Be sure you understand the steps in this procedure before you begin. If you do not feel comfortable using
the concurrent procedure, go to "Replace removable media devices with 825 powered off" on page 15.
Attention: Failure to follow these instructions could result in damage to the removable media device or
to the system unit and could result in loss of data.
To perform the concurrent replacement procedure, follow these steps:
