    When the SureMark is operating in RS-485 mode, power is supplied to the printer from the IBM POS system. The system supplies 38V dc and 5V dc to the printer. When the SureMark has the USB feature installed and is using the powered USB cable with a SurePOS 700 Series system, 24V is supplied from the system unit.

If cleaning the MICR read head does not solve a problem you are having, it might be that you are experiencing electromagnetic noise interference.
