Reinstallation of the Software
Display Driver Installation after Installing Windows
This chapter describes how to install display drivers after having installed
Windows 98.
S Please observe the following instructions to install the display drivers located in
the directory
C:\DRIVERS\DISPLAY.W98 or located in the directory
DRIVERS\PG740P3\DISPLAY.W98 of the supplied "Backup PG720/740" CD.
S Please read the file Install.txt or before installation.
S Click "Start", then "Settings", and "Control Panel".
S Click the "Display" option.
S Click "Settings" tab and then "Advanced" .
S Select "Change" in the "Adapter" tab".
S Click "Next" and select "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location..." in
the Update Device Driver Wizard. Then click "Next " and press "Have Disk".
S At the command prompt "Copy manufacturer's files from" type
\DRIVERS\PG740P3\DISPLAY.W98 on the "Backup PG720/740" CD and
select the file "chips98.inf"
and press "OK"
S Select the installed Model in "Select Device".
S A list of technical specifications displays the type of adapter installed. Confirm
with "OK" and press "Next".
Windows 98 updates the system settings.
S Click "Finish" and close the Update Device Driver Wizard.
S Click "Close" to close all windows. When the system asks you to restart for the
new settings to take effect confirm with "Yes".
After restarting your system click "Control Panel" then "Display" and the "Settings"
tab and adjust the "Screen Area" and "Colors" settings in order to complete your
installation.
Installing Advanced Power Management
If the support for Advanced Power Management (APM) is deactivated, it has to be
set up again. Start the hardware wizard with Start > Settings> Control panel >
Hardware in order to do this.
