Operational Range
The PG 740 PIII is a portable programming device. It can be usd for all SIMATIC
automation systems in both online and offline operation. The PG 740 PIII meets
the strictest requirements by:
S High Level system performance (e. g. Intel Pentium III processor)
S High degree of enhanceability (e.g. PCMCIA cards, upgradeable processor
mother board, 1 PCI/ISA slot and 1 PCI slot (length 170 mm)
S Color TFT display with an excellent contrast and a high degree of brilliance
S MPI/DP interface port for simultaneous connection to SIMATIC S7 and other
automation systems.
S Depending on the version delivered, preinstalled software for SIMATIC S7 and
SIMATIC S5
S Programming interface for S5/S7 EPROM memory module and SIMATIC
Memory Cards
S TTY interface (Online interface for S5)
S Ergonomic keyboard with integrated trackball
S Highly portable with a wide range of set-up possibilities

Set-up Possibilities
Different set-up options facilitate the operation in an industrial environment:
S Swivel display; the display can be rotated 90° . Even when the programming
device is placed on the floor its face can be easily read from above.
S Removable keyboard; the keyboard can be detached from the device to render
opertaion easier to work under diffcult conditions e.g. in narrow spaces.
S Wall mountability; in addition to set-up possibilities on the floor or on a desk the
device can also be mounted to the e.g. wall.
Functions
The software package supplied with the device allows a universal use of the
PG 740 PIII. The scope of delivery contains
S Windows 98, Windows NT or Windows 2000 operating system;
S Depending on the version delivered, STEP 7 and STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32
programming software and STEP 5/ST.
