The relay used on the e1021/e1026 machine is 4 terminal 48 V relay and located
inside the battery cover and next to TEC controller; refer to
1. Park the machine on a level surface and make sure that the clutch bail in the
NEUTRAL position. Turn the key switch to the OFF position and remove
the key from the key switch.
2. Disconnect the battery pack; refer to
(page
5–3).
3. Remove the four bolts that secures the battery cover to the battery mount.
Remove the battery cover from the machine.
4. Disconnect the machine wire harness connector from the relay. Remove the
relay from the machine for ease of testing.
Note: Prior to taking small resistance readings with a digital multimeter, short
the meter test leads together. The meter will display a small resistance value
(usually 0.5 ohms or less). This resistance is due to the internal resistance of
the meter and test leads. Subtract this value from the measured value for
the tested component.
