INLET SYSTEM
SmartCarb™
The channel, marked by arrows, connects the carburettor's measurement
chamber with inlet air in the inlet elbow. Pressure equalisation between these
allows the carburettor to provide the right fuel/air mixture regardless of how
fouled the filter may be. This is the operating principle of SmartCarb™.
Make sure the gasket between the carburettor and inlet elbow is fitted with
the hole facing the channel side in the inlet elbow.
IMPORTANT
It is essential that the inlet elbow has a perfect seal to the air filter and
carburettor.
Inlet pipe
The inlet pipe connects the carburettor to the cylinder. The rubber pipe dampens
vibrations and provides heat insulation for the carburettor. The inlet pipe
consists of two separable base units.
The impulse channel, marked with arrow, connects the carburettor pump
diaphragm with the crankcase.
Dismantling
Push in the rubber collar and
remove the holder.
Remove the screws to the
cylinder.
Check the tightness
Replace the inlet pipe or indivi-
dual components if there are
traces of dust.
Dismantling
Push the rubber collar towards the cylin-
der and remove the outer holder.
The inlet pipe is attached to the carbu-
rettor with two screws. Remove these and
remove the inlet pipe.
Check the tightness
A dismantled inlet pipe must always be
checked for leaks. Check if dust can be
traced inside the inlet pipe or at the seals
to the carburettor and the cylinder.
Replace the inlet pipe or individual com-
ponents if there are traces of dust.
